The Story

Pahari Mandir is an iconic hilltop temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on Ranchi Hill, also known as Richi Buru. Located about 2,140 feet above sea level, the temple is reached by climbing 468 steps to the summit. Apart from its religious importance, the hilltop offers a spectacular bird's-eye view of Ranchi city, along with beautiful sunrise and sunset views. The temple has strong historical associations with India's freedom struggle, and the national tricolour is traditionally hoisted here on Independence Day and Republic Day. The temple attracts especially large numbers of devotees during Shravan and Mahashivratri.
