Ranchi Lake (Bada Talab)

Ranchi Lake, popularly known as Bada Talab, is one of the oldest and most familiar water bodies in the city. Created in 1842 by Colonel Onsely, the lake sits at the foot of Ranchi Hill and gives you a little breathing space right in the middle of the city's busy streets. It is a nice place to come for an evening walk, sit by the water, enjoy the view of Ranchi Hill, or simply spend some quiet time away from the city's rush. The lake has a long connection with Ranchi's history, which makes a visit feel like a small walk through the city's past as well.
